Sophie
Sophie was dumped in the forest aged just six weeks old back in September 2022, along with her five siblings.
She's an affectionate girl, always happy and excited to see volunteers as they arrive at the park.
Sophie has silky fur and dark marks around her eyes like eyeliner.
She's great with people and the boss of the other park residents, commanding their respect.

Alfie
Alfie is one of our street dogs, part of the community where nearby volunteers feed him and monitor his wellbeing.
He loves to join people on walks, acting as a tour guide as he wags his tail and shows off the surrounding area.
Alfie has a beautiful temperament and is a big softie.

Rosie
Rosie was dumped in the forest with her siblings at just six weeks old. She's a real fighter and has survived parvovirus and distemper.
The biggest of the litter, she has an appetite to match.
Rosie adores human company, is friendly and affectionate, and sociable with other dogs.

Frankie
Frankie came to the park as a puppy with his sister, Fergie and has been there for about four years.
He is a gentle soul who wants to be loved and to find his own special person.
He is always the first to jump up for a cuddle and would happily sit next to you all day.

Jessie
Jessie is the park's oldest and longest-serving resident, having been there since 2017. We think she is at least eight years old.
She is quiet and timid, but she loves being fussed and is very happy once she trusts somebody.
She is one of the first to greet the volunteers as they arrive and always escorts them out of the forest at the end of a shift.

Basil
Basil was found in the forest with his mum and siblings when he was only four weeks old.
He's the only one of his family left at the park and has survived parvovirus and distemper.
He's friendly and submissive to the other dogs and just wants to have fun.
He loves so much - and wants the same in return.

Lucy
Lucy was found in Üzümlü in 2023, terrified of everything. She was taken in by a volunteer who had her neutered; by the time she was released, she was still timid but had gained some confidence and trust in people.
However, as she's become scared and nervous again, we think she may have been ill-treated.
This puts her at risk on the streets as local people might interpret her fear as aggression.
We took Lucy to our dog park for protection. We're hoping to rebuild her confidence and help her learn to trust people again.

Poppy
Poor Poppy was dumped with her collar removed. She has marks where it used to be, so we think she was owned and discarded.
Poppy is a big girl, which means local people were mean to her as they were scared. She has also recently been attacked by other dogs and has new wounds on her legs, neck and ears.
Despite this, she is a happy dog who loves interacting with people. We're working tirelessly to find her a safe haven.

Kahve
This is Kahve.
He's survived distemper, and although he has a slight twitch as a result, this doesn’t affect his life.
Kahve has a lovely nature and gets on well with other dogs.
He loves human interaction and is adored by the locals - you'll often find him chilling on a chair or sofa in a local bar.

Lizzie
Lizzie and her bestie, Philip, were collected for neutering by the local shelter. However, a change in the law meant they couldn't be released again unless they were adopted.
To save them from a life of loneliness and exposure to potentially life-threatening diseases, PAWS Üzümlü took on responsibility for them.
On entering the park, Lizzie was transformed - overnight she blossomed into an energetic, loving girl, as though she knew she had been saved.

Philip
Philip is Lizzie's sidekick, taken into our care to avoid him suffering a life of loneliness and exposure to potentially life-threatening diseases.
At one stage he was fighting for his life thanks to a serious lung infection, but he refused to give in.
He's now back at the dog park, playing games and full of life.

Felix
One of our supporters found Felix hiding at the side of the road, injured and terrified. His instinct was to bite anyone who went near him.
Despite being treated so badly, now he's safe he loves human contact and enjoys nothing more than a bit of fuss.
Felix was a dog park resident but as an older gentleman he wasn't so keen on the company of puppies. Instead, he took himself down the mountain to a spot where locals take care of him. Our team still monitor him weekly.

Luna
This gorgeous girl is Luna.
She can be found wandering the streets of Üzümlü and is renowned for her princess-like grace and beauty.
Luna is friendly but likes to stay out of trouble and keeps herself to herself.
She also seems to have a sixth sense - if she thinks anyone is going near her to do anything medical, she runs a mile!

Charlie
Young Charlie was dumped in 2023 and followed several locals home in the hope they would take him in. We're sure he was owned at one stage - he is very obedient and a quick learner.
He's still searching for a home and spends his evenings running around the streets looking for a place to settle.
Charlie has previously suffered trauma to his eye, perhaps from a kick or something being thrown at him. He now has limited sight to that eye, but it doesn't impact his fun-loving nature.
He really is a big softie - even the chickens chase him away from his food.

Rusty Rupert
This young boy arrived in Üzümlü in August 2024, lost and alone after being dumped.
He loves playing with other dogs and follows their guidance.
PAWS have had him neutered and vaccinated and are pushing to find him a home of his own.

Wolfie
This handsome gentleman is Wolfie. He's been in the village since he was a puppy and we think he's around nine years old.
He's playful and always happy to see you. If he knows your car, he'll follow until you stop and give him a fuss.
Wolfie has recently been treated by the vet for a problem with his paw, so needs some extra care and attention.

Gypsy
Gypsy arrived in Üzümlü in 2019 - she wasn't very old.
She's an independent girl, gets on well with the dogs she knows. Gypsy is very friendly with humans and children.
We don't know what happened to her tail. It was like that when she first arrived. When she is happy and wags her stubby tail, her back moves all around like she is dancing.

Arthur
Arthur was abandoned at the side of a busy road and found shivering with fear under a rubbish bin following a night of thunderstorms and torrential rain.
Medical checks found tumours in his mouth, stomach and foot but, although he's an old boy, his health is otherwise good.
Arthur is at the park, but we're desperate to find him a retirement home.
He doesn't know what love and kindness are and, although he has a shelter, chooses to hide under the ramp leading up to it.
