Sophie

Sophie and her 5 siblings were dumped in the forest at just 6 weeks old back in September 2022.

Sophie is a very affectionate girl, always happy and excited to see the volunteers as they arrive at the park.

Sophie is renowned for her silky fur and dark lines around her eyes resembling eye liner.

Sophie is a happy soul to humans but to the other park residents, she is the boss. She is a real diva but has the respect of the other dogs.

Alfie

Alfie is one of our resident street dogs living in the local community. He is fed and monitored by our volunteers who live in his neighbourhood.

Alfie loves to join anyone going on a walk. We think he believes he is the local tour guide, wagging his tail and proudly showing off the surrounding area.

Alfie has a beautiful temperament, a big softie.

Rosie

Rosie was dumped with her siblings, at six weeks old, in the forest. Rosie is a true warrior, she survived parvovirus and distemper.

The biggest of the litter - she's got a gigantic appetite to match her size.

Rosie adores human company – a love-able character.

She is friendly and affectionate and really sociable with other dogs.

Frankie

Frankie came to the park as a puppy with his sister, Fergie and has been there for about 4 years now.

Frankie is a gentle soul who just wants to be loved and dreams of finding his special human one day.

He is always the first to jump up for a cuddle and would sit next to you all day if it meant being near you.

Jessie

Jessie has been at the park since 2017, the oldest resident and the longest serving.

We believe she must be at least eight years old.

Jessie is quiet, timid but loves a fuss, once she trusts you and is very happy girl.

She is one of the first to greet the volunteers as they arrive and always escort the volunteers ears out of the forest at the end of the shift.

She loves her life at the park but is so deserving of a home.

Basil

Basil was found in the forest, with his siblings and mum, when he was only four weeks old.

He's the only one of his family left at the park. He's survived parvovirus and distemper.

He's so friendly and very submissive with the other dogs.

Basil just wants to have fun with everyone and to be loved as much as he loves.

Basil will make a loyal and fun loving companion.

Lucy

In 2023 Lucy found herself in the village scared of everything, even her own shadow. A volunteer took her in and got her neutered. Upon release she had gained confidence and trust in humans although still very timid.

We believe Lucy has received some sort of ill treatment as she has become nervous and scared of humans again.

Living on the streets, this can put her at risk if locals don’t understand she is scared and deem it aggressive. We have taken Lucy to our dog park for protection, love and care. We want to build her confidence and trust in humans back up again.

Our volunteers have already fallen in love with her gentle soul.

Poppy

Poor Poppy has been dumped with her collar removed. She has marks where it used to be. Probably owned and once loved but now disregarded.

Poppy is a big girl resulting in locals being scared of her and so, being mean to her.

She's has been attacked recently by other dogs as had new wounds on her legs, neck and ears. Despite Poppy’s hard start in life she is full of happiness and joy and adores human interaction. We are working tirelessly to find a safe haven for Poppy.

Khave

This is Khave.

He survived distemper, a true warrior. He does now have a slight twitch remaining from this sickness but it doesn’t affect his daily life.

Khave is a lovely natured dog who gets on well with other dogs and loves human interaction.

He is loved by the locals and from time to time you will see him chilling on the sofa of the local bar.

Toros

Toros was dumped and left to fend for himself. Due to past trauma he was scared of humans and didn’t have access to shelter or food.

Since moving to the dog park his character has really come out and now he loves spending time with humans, interacting and getting fused.

He also loves playing with other dogs and thoroughly enjoys their company.

Lizzie

Poor Lizzie and her partner at the dog park Philip were both collected for neutering however due to the new laws in Turkey this meant they would not be released again unless adopted.

To save them from a life of loneliness and potential life threatening diseases PAWS Üzümlü took on the responsibility for them.

Upon them entering the park, Lizzie transformed from a lost soul to an energetic, loving girl. She blossomed overnight as if she knew she had been saved.

Philip

This young dog is Philip.

Philip and his partner in crime at the dog park Lizzie were both collected off the streets by the shelter for neutering however due to the new laws in Turkey this meant they would not be released again unless adopted.

We didn’t think Philip would make it, he was fighting for his life with a serious lung infection. This boy is a fighter and he pulled through and he is now back playing games and full of life.

To save them from a life of loneliness and potential life threatening diseases PAWS Üzümlü took on the responsibility for them and are now in search of a real home for them.

Felix

One of our supporters found him hiding at the side of the road. He was injured, terrified, and his instinct was to bite anyone who went near him.

Despite being treated so badly, now he's safe in our dog park he loves human contact and enjoys nothing more than a bit of fuss.

Felix was a dog park resident but being an older gentleman, he didn't enjoy the puppies company so much so he took himself down the road to a well-known spot down the mountain where locals take care of him. Our team still monitor and care for him weekly.

Sarah

This is Sarah.

Sarah found herself dumped in the middle of the village in 2023 not neutered and coming in season. The team quickly reactivated and saved this poor girl from falling pregnant.

Sarah has a beautiful soul and loves nothing more than spending time with her other street dog friends.

Sarah is fed and monitored by some of our local volunteers.

Luna

This gorgeous girl is Luna.

Luna can be found wandering the streets of Üzümlü like a princess. She is known by all by her grace and beauty.

Luna is friendly but likes to keep herself to herself. She doesn’t want any trouble, a calming soul.

Luna has a 6th sense and when she thinks a volunteer is going to go near her with something medical, she runs a mile.

Charlie

Charlie found himself dumped in the village in 2023. Just a young dog he tried to follow several locals home hoping they would take him in. He is very obedient, and a quick learner. We are sure he was owned before and then chuck out like old rubbish.

Charlie is still looking for his forever home and spends his evenings running about the streets looking for a place to settle.

Charlie has previously suffered trauma to his eye, perhaps by a kick or an item being thrown at him. He still has sight out this eye but it is limited. This doesn’t have any impact on his fun loving, beautiful character.

Charlie would make a perfect pet. He is a big softie - even the chickens chase him away from his food.

Rusty Rupert

This young boy found himself lost and alone in Üzümlü after he had been dumped.
He arrived in August 2024 and was only a young pup. He loves playing with other dogs and following them for guidance.

PAWS have got him neutered and vaccinated and are pushing to find a home of his own.

Wolfie

This handsome gentleman is Wolfie. We believe he is about 7 years old and he has been in the village since he was a puppy.

Wolfie has a playful character and he is always happy to see you. If he knows your car, he will follow you till you stop and give him a fuss.

Wolfie had recently had trouble with his paw so has been receiving vet treatment for it.

Clover

In November 2024, Clover was found on a rural road far outside of the village.

Extremely skinny and with a large deep cut on her shoulder, our volunteer took her to the vet where she received five stitches to close the wound.

Clover spent 23 hours a day in her dog house. She would only come out to eat, for a quick head rub, to do her business and then she runs right back in. At first quite timid, Clover quickly gained confidence and trust in her foster family and visitors to the home.

Once Clover had gained weight and her confidence had improved we moved her to our dog park where she loves to be rubbed and enjoys her food.

Maggie

Maggie found herself in Üzümlü, lost, about to give birth but could not find a safe place to settle. Thankfully one of our volunteers took her into their garden and 2 days later, during a thunderstorm she gave birth to six babies.

Maggie is affectionate and cuddly to humans. She gets on great with other dogs, cats, chickens and also children. She is a sweet girl and very appreciative of kindness and care from humans. Maggie was tested on a lead and she walked great, she is also house trained.

Now that her babies are ready to go to new homes, Maggie is now looking for a home of her very own.

Arthur

Arthur was abandoned on a busy road side, petrified of the world around him and found shivering with fear under a bin after a night of thunder and pouring pain.

Upon further medical investigations tumuors were found in his mouth, stomach and foot. Arthur is an old boy but his health was great aside from his tumours.

Arthur now resides at the park but we are desperate to find him. a retirement home.

He is a sweet boy who is desperate for kindness.

Although he has a huge shelter, he chooses to hide under the ramp leading up to the shelter. This poor boy doesn't know what love and care is.
